Requirements:
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Screenreader expertise with JAWS/NVDA
- Working knowledge of user requirements of people with disabilities
- Be able to describe accessibility issues and recommendations for resolving them to non-subject matter expert engineers (Bug Reporting).
- Some debugging skills, able to convey and explain bug causes and a11y concepts to non a11y subject matter experts using minimal step reproduction cases.
- WCAG standards knowledge
- Familiarity with front end technologies
Skills
- HTML (doesn't have to be a developer, but should be able to review the source code, identify the possible root cause and provide solutions for basic a11y issues).
- Strong understanding of accessibility guidelines (WCAG, section 508 or ADA). Ability to identify and match the issue with a11y standard checkpoint.
- Knowledge of accessibility design standards such as: W3C WCAG 2.0, WAI-ARIA, Mobile Accessibility (iOS, Android), Desktop Software (Windows/Mac).
- Screen reader skills (should be proficient in at least one of these: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver).
- QA methodology (filing bugs, debugging skills, test case management).
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
